If you're skeptical, keep reading: Air Fryer Scrambled Eggs are a simple and delicious way to make scrambled eggs! They're low-prep, low-effort, and easy clean up, with a smooth and custardy texture you will love.

Ingredients

Ingredients needed to make scrambled eggs in the air fryer.
  • Butter, unsalted: Use unsalted butter, as the salt added to the recipe is generally enough, and you don't want eggs that are too salty.
  • Large eggs: Farm-fresh eggs are always going to be richer in flavor than store-bought, so if you can get your hands on them, we recommend it, but your local grocery eggs work too!
  • Kosher salt: Kosher salt works best for adding flavor to your food. We recommend it over simple table salt.
  • Black pepper: Freshly cracked black pepper is the way to go! However, pre-ground black pepper will work.
  • Shredded cheese (optional): This is optional, but who doesn't love cheese with their scrambled eggs? Use your favorite shredded cheese that will melt well, such as mild to sharp cheddar or any jack cheeses such as Pepper Jack and Monterey Jack.
  • Chopped chives, for garnish (optional): The onion-y, garlicky flavor of chives always adds a nice flavor and pop of green to eggs.

If your air fryer is a model with a basket, use the steps outlined below under "How to Make Scrambled Eggs in the Air Fryer". If you have an air fryer oven with a tray, see the section below under "Instructions for a Toaster Oven Style Air Fryer Oven".

Tips

  • We use butter when making scrambled eggs in the air fryer to keep the eggs from sticking, as well as to keep them from becoming rubbery. We recommend also using butter for these reasons.
  • Cook time may vary depending on your brand and model of air fryer. As always, use our cook time and temperature as a guide until you are more comfortable with your specific air fryer model.
  • If cooking in multiple batches, be sure to check on the remaining batches early, as they may cook more quickly.
  • Use your favorite cheese with eggs. We used cheddar cheese, but other good melting cheeses are Monterey Jack and Colby Jack.
  • Customize your scrambled eggs however you like. Cheese isn't the only option! Scrambled eggs are a great way to use up leftover diced ham, crispy bacon, or veggies like sauteed bell peppers. Mushrooms are a great addition, too.

Storage Instructions

Leftover eggs are safe to eat for up to 3-4 days, but taste best the day you make them. At max, we recommend storing them for no longer than 2 days. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator and reheat by warming them in the microwave for 30-50 seconds, or the air fryer for a few minutes, until heated through.

FAQ

Can I use salted butter?

Yes, you can use salted butter! However, you may want to adjust the amount of additional salt you add to the eggs so they don't become overly salty.

Can I make these eggs without cheese?

Of course! Cheese isn't necessary for delicious, fluffy eggs. Just leave it out if you don't want to use any.

How can I prevent my eggs from overcooking?

Keep an eye on them as you air fry eggs, and adjust the cooking time as needed. Cooking times can vary slightly depending on your air fryer model, so be sure to check for doneness.
