Ingredients

Sausage Patties
- Frozen sausage patties, any brand: You can use your favorite brand of sausage patties! Keep in mind this recipe is for patties, not links. Certain patties may take more or less time to cook than others.
Air Fryer Eggs
- Unsalted butter: Use unsalted butter to avoid over-salting the eggs!
- Large eggs: Farm fresh eggs work best, if you're able to get some. They're richer in flavor and worth it! Otherwise, use large grade A eggs from your local grocery store.
- Salt: We always recommend kosher salt rather than table salt.
- Pepper: Freshly cracked black pepper works best, but ground black pepper will work as well.
- (2) 4-inch ramekins or cake pans: You will need these to cook the eggs. Make sure to use 4-inch ramekins, or the eggs won't cook correctly.
Air Fryer English Muffins
- English muffins, split in half: You can use gluten-free English muffins, too. Or, for alternatives, see our guide to making Air Fryer Toast!
- Cheddar cheese, thinly sliced: American cheese is also a great choice. You want a sliced cheese that melts well, no matter what cheese you prefer!

How to Air Fry Breakfast Sandwiches
Air Fryer Frozen Sausage Patties

Step 1 - Place frozen sausage patties in an even layer in the air fryer basket, leaving space between each patty.

Step 2 - Air fry at 400°F for 5 minutes, flipping halfway through. Carefully remove the cooked sausage patties and set them aside. Keep warm until ready to use (tent with foil if necessary).

Step 1 - Place butter in each ramekin and add the ramekins to the air fryer basket. Air fry at 400°F for 2 minutes to melt the butter.

Step 2 - Remove the air fryer basket. Carefully crack an egg onto a small dish, being careful not to break the yolk. Carefully slide the egg into one of the ramekins. Repeat with the other egg, sliding it into the remaining ramekin.

Step 3 - Close the air fryer basket and set the temperature to 375°F. Air fry the eggs in the butter for 4 minutes for over easy eggs with a runny yolk. Carefully remove each ramekin - they will be very hot - from the air fryer basket and keep warm until ready to use.

- Place English muffins into the air fryer basket in a single layer.
- Air fry at 400°F for 4 minutes - no need to flip.
- Place 1 slice of cheese on the bottom half of each English muffin. Close the air fryer and allow the cheese to melt. No need to turn the air fryer back on; the residual heat will melt the cheese quickly.
- Remove from the air fryer and start assembling your sandwiches!
Note: If you want to save time, you can cook the English muffins at the same time as the sausage patties.
Assembling the Sandwiches
- Place one sausage patty on top of each bottom half of the English muffin. Top each sausage patty with a fried egg. Place the top half of the English muffin over the egg, then serve and enjoy!

Fried Egg Cooking Times
This recipe is for over easy eggs with a very runny yolk. If you prefer your yolk cooked further, refer to these cooking times:
- Over medium - 375°F for 5 minutes. Over medium eggs have a set yolk that is just slightly wet.
- Over well - 375°F for 6 minutes. Over well eggs have a fully set yolk, like a hard boiled egg.
Tips for Air Frying Breakfast Sandwiches
- Cook sausage patties from frozen – do not thaw first.
- Make sure not to overcrowd the air fryer basket. If you're making multiple sandwiches, cook in batches if you have to.
- To reduce cook time, we recommend placing the English muffins in the air fryer basket at the same time as the sausage. Alternatively, you can toast them in a toaster oven or traditional toaster while the eggs cook.
- Air frying eggs: Using butter is an important ingredient to keep the eggs from sticking, but it also helps keep the eggs from getting rubbery and adds great flavor, too! We do not recommend using oil spray for this recipe, as the eggs tend to stick and get rubbery.
- Cook time may vary depending on your specific air fryer model and size. You may need to adjust the timing according to your model.
- Recipe time and temperature is based on a cold air fryer. If cooking multiple batches, check on them early, as they will cook more quickly than the first batch.

Breakfast Sandwich Ideas
- Try our air fryer bacon, eggs, and toast!
- Bacon, egg, and cheese on a toasted bagel
- Bacon, egg, and cheese on a toasted croissant
- Add your favorite toppings: sliced avocado, or even a hash brown patty make great additions.

Make-Ahead Breakfast Sandwiches
You can easily make your own frozen breakfast sandwiches following this recipe, then reheat in the air fryer from frozen. Making these sandwiches ahead of time is perfect for busy mornings.
To freeze, allow the sandwiches to cool after cooking, then wrap tightly in foil and store in a freezer-safe bag labeled with the date.
Follow these instructions to reheat the sandwiches from frozen:
- Remove the sandwich from the freezer and unwrap it.
- Dissemble the sandwich by splitting it into two halves: one half with the sausage patty, and the other with the egg.
- Air fry at 330°F for 5 minutes, until heated through.
FAQ
For the most part, homemade air fryer breakfast sandwiches should be cooked at a temperature of 400°F, with the exception of the fried eggs. Air fryer fried eggs should be cooked at a temperature of 375°F.
To heat up breakfast sandwiches in the air fryer after refrigerating, reheat at 350°F for about 2-3 minutes or until heated through. To reheat them after freezing, separate into halves and air fry at 330°F for 5 minutes, until heated through.
