Place unsalted butter in a heat-safe dish. Air fry at 400°F for 2 minutes to melt the butter.

While the butter melts, whisk eggs in a medium bowl. Season the egg mixture with salt and pepper.

When the butter is melted, open the air fryer basket and carefully pour the whisked eggs into the heat safe dish with the butter. Close the air fryer basket.
Air fry at 300°F for 8 minutes. Halfway through the cook time, gently stir the eggs with a silicone spatula.
After 8 minutes is up, stir eggs to ensure doneness. If necessary, add another minute at a time until the eggs are cooked to your liking.
Top with shredded cheese, if desired, and close the air fryer basket. No need to turn the air fryer on: the residual heat should melt the cheese.

Once the cheese is melted, carefully remove the hot dish and transfer your fluffy scrambled eggs to a serving plate. Garnish with chopped chives, and enjoy!
