Move over, microwave! And put away that baking sheet, too. Once you try this recipe for mini tacos in the air fryer, you're not going to want to make them any other way. This is one of the most easy air fryer recipes you can make, and with a cooking time of just six minutes, why not make yourself some mini tacos to enjoy? Let's get air frying!
Why air fry mini tacos?
- No extra oil: You won't need to use any extra oil or cooking spray to ensure these tacos come out crispy and delicious. The air fryer cooks them to golden brown perfection!
- The texture is amazing: Air frying gives your frozen mini tacos a satisfying crunch while keeping the insides tender.
- It's quick and easy: Air frying is incredibly fast, taking just a few minutes to cook frozen mini tacos with a better taste and texture than other methods.

Ingredients
- Frozen Mini Tacos: We're using Jose Ole Mini Tacos, but you can use other brands too, such as Don Miguel, Casa Mamita from ALDI, Trader Joe's, or Costco brand. You'll find these in the freezer section of your local grocery store.
- Dipping Sauce (Optional): Technically, you don't need a dipping sauce to enjoy these mini tacos... but we highly recommend it! Try homemade salsa, our special fish taco sauce (it's good on everything!), sour cream, and/or guacamole. We also love them with queso and refried beans.

Are air fryer mini tacos gluten-free?
If you need to keep your mini tacos gluten-free, first make sure the brand you're buying uses corn tortillas and not flour tortillas. It's best to be safe and check the label on the back to be certain they didn't sneak any flour into the taco seasoning, too.
How to Air Fry Mini Tacos

Step 1 - Place frozen mini tacos in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Make sure not to overlap any of the tacos. If you need to, cook in batches to avoid overcrowding the air fryer.

Step 2 - Air fry mini tacos at 400°F for 6 minutes. Halfway through air frying, make sure to flip the tacos using tongs to ensure even cooking.

Step 3 - After flipping, continue to cook for the remaining cook time until heated through.

Step 4 - Once they're ready, remove them from the air fryer basket carefully by using tongs, and set aside to let them cool for a few minutes. We know it's hard to resist eating them right away, but please let them cool!
Toaster Oven Style Air Fryer Instructions
The following instructions are for toaster oven style air fryers, such as the Breville Smart Oven Air. These models require preheating, unlike basket models, and take slightly longer to cook.
- Preheat the air fryer to 400°F.
- Once preheated, spread the mini tacos out on the baking sheet in a single layer. Don't overlap any of the tacos.
- Air fry for 8 minutes, turning the tacos over halfway using tongs.
- After turning, continue to cook for the remaining time until heated through.
- Once they're ready, remove the mini tacos from the air fryer with tongs. Let them sit for a few minutes to cool before enjoying!

FAQ
No, there's no need for oil spray. Mini taco shells typically contain enough fat, and adding more may make them greasy.
You can use your favorite mini tacos no matter what the filling is. If they're of a slightly different size than Jose Ole, they might take more or less time to cook, so adjust the time accordingly.
Of course! We prefer them in the air fryer, but if you want to make them in the oven, then we recommend following the instructions provided on the box.
