Frozen Burritos in the Air Fryer
As much as we love frozen burritos, it can be a challenge to get them to cook correctly. You might follow the instructions on the box perfectly and still wind up with a burrito that's molten hot at the edges and cold in the center. We've all been there!
These air fryer frozen burritos completely take away any guess work. Not only that, but they're quick, easy, and enhance the flavor of any frozen burrito you'd normally microwave. Trust me- you'll want to make frozen burritos in the air fryer every time!
You can use this air fryer frozen burrito recipe for any of your favorite brands. Or, make your own homemade burritos to air fry after freezing! Either way, this air fryer frozen recipe is a quick and simple way to get dinner on the table.
Ingredients
- Frozen bean burritos: You can use any brand of frozen burrito with any protein you prefer. We used ALDI brand bean burritos, but you can also use this recipe to cook frozen burritos with beef burritos, chicken burritos, cheese burritos, and more. Amy's brand is another popular choice. Whatever type of burrito you have in your freezer will work, including gluten-free burritos and vegan burritos!
- Oil spray: Use avocado oil spray or any other neutral oil. However, don't use a non-stick spray with additives, and try to spray the oil directly on the food, and not in the basket. This can wear down the non-stick element of your air fryer basket over time. Learn more: Our Favorite Oils to use for Air Frying.

Toppings for Burritos
- Salsa
- Pico de Gallo
- Guacamole
- Sour cream or try our Creamy Fish Taco Sauce it goes great with everything!!
- Cilantro
- Lime wedges
These are just suggestions! You can use any of your favorite burrito toppings, or simply enjoy them plain or with hot sauce on the side. However, we always find adding toppings makes store-bought frozen burritos feel that much more "homemade". Our bean burritos were delicious with these toppings.
How to Cook Frozen Burritos in Air Fryer
Step 1 - Spray the air fryer basket.
Step 2 - Place the frozen burritos in the air fryer tray in a single layer making sure there is space around each one (cook in batches if needed).
Step 3 - Air fry burritos at 400°F for 12-15 minutes or until lightly browned and heated all the way through. Use a food thermometer if you aren't certain (it should read 165°F) or pierce with a fork to check. When heated through, serve with your choice of toppings and enjoy!
Tips
- Cook from frozen - do not thaw first.
- Typically, four burritos fit into the air fryer at a time.
- Don't overcrowd the air fryer basket. Cook in batches if you must. You do not want to stack the burritos or place them too closely together, or they won't cook properly.
- Cook time may vary based on your air fryer model and the size of your burritos.
- Recipe time and temperature is based on a cold air fryer (no need to preheat). If cooking burritos in multiple batches, be sure to check on the remaining batches early, as they will cook more quickly when starting with a preheated air fryer.
- It’s not necessary to turn these over during cooking as they will brown nicely on both sides, but if you prefer, you may turn them halfway through cooking.
Storage
Store leftover burritos inside an airtight container, or tightly wrapped in foil, in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the microwave with a damp paper towel or in the air fryer at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 3-4 minutes until heated through.
Serving Suggestions
Serve air fried frozen burritos with your usual favorite side dishes, such as rice, refried beans, tortilla chips, or simply your toppings of choice, such as guacamole, sour cream, and salsa.
