Frozen Egg Rolls in the Air Fryer
When it comes to anything frozen, one of the most common issues we run into is the food never coming out as crisp as we'd prefer. Frozen egg rolls, especially! You might think deep frying is the only way when it's all too easy to follow the instructions on the box and still wind up with soggy, sad egg rolls.
You won't need to worry about that with this air fryer egg rolls recipe. In under 15 minutes you can have perfectly cooked egg rolls on the inside with a crispy, golden brown exterior, perfect for serving as an appetizer, side dish, or even as a lunch or snack all on their own. We absolutely love the crispy texture! And not having to use a deep fryer is a huge bonus!
Follow our steps to cook frozen egg rolls in the air fryer, and eliminate the guess-work (not to mention all of the oil you'd use if you fried them, instead!). Best of all, you can use this recipe for any filling, whether you're making vegetable egg rolls, pork egg rolls, chicken egg rolls, or a homemade variety you froze yourself.
Ingredients
- Frozen egg rolls, any brand: You can use any brand of egg rolls you prefer. We use Tai Pei egg rolls with chicken filling, but we also love PF Chang and Pagoda. Pick your favorite! Keep in mind that egg rolls of different sizes will take a variable amount of time to cook. However, you can use the same cooking temperature for all varieties.
How to Cook Frozen Egg Rolls in the Air Fryer
Step 1 - Preheat the air fryer to 400°F. and place sauce packet in a bowl of warm water to thaw. Set aside until ready to use.
Step 2 - Add egg rolls to air fryer basket in a single layer. Do not overcrowd the air fryer.

Tips
- Cook from frozen – do not thaw first. The egg rolls will be crispier when cooking from frozen, so never thaw them first.
- You can use any brand of egg roll you prefer.
- You can also use homemade egg rolls you have frozen.
- Make sure not to overcrowd the air fryer basket.
- There is no need to spray the egg rolls or basket with oil spray, as they already contain oil.
- There is no need to flip the egg rolls, but if you want to, you can turn them over halfway through the cooking time.
- Cook time may vary depending on your specific air fryer model and size. You may need to adjust the timing according to your model. It may also vary depending on the size of the egg rolls.
- Recipe time and temperature is based on a preheated air fryer. If cooking multiple batches, the remaining batches may cook more quickly.
Egg Roll Dipping Sauces
- Hoisin sauce: A salty, tangy sauce with a slightly sweet flavor, similar to BBQ.
- Plum sauce: A sweet, tangy sauce made with plums and ginger, perfect for fried foods.
- Peanut sauce: A nutty, sweet and salty sauce you may recognize from Pad Thai.
- Sweet and sour sauce: A light sauce with - you guessed it! - sweet and sour flavors. Great for shrimp egg rolls.
- Thai sweet chili sauce: A mixture of sweet and spicy, great with pork and chicken.
- Oyster sauce: Combines the flavors of soy sauce and BBQ sauce into a complex mixture that is both salty, sweet, and umami.
- Mustard sauce: Try Chinese hot mustard sauce with egg rolls for a uniquely spicy mustard that is just delicious with egg rolls of any kind.
- Garlic sauce: Garlic sauce typically includes a mixture of soy sauce, sugar, vinegar, and garlic, making it an ideal sweet-and-savory choice.
Some frozen egg roll brands may come with their own sauce - but above are a few of our recommendations to complete your perfect snack!
Storing Leftovers
If you have any leftover egg rolls, store them in an airtight container for up to 3-4 days in the refrigerator. Do not refreeze.
Reheating
To reheat any leftover egg rolls in the air fryer, air fry at 350°F for 1 to 5 minutes, or until heated through. Timing depends on the size of your egg rolls.
