Ingredients
- Frozen Jalapeño Poppers: All you need for this recipe is your favorite brand of frozen jalapeno poppers. We use TGI Friday’s Jalapeno Poppers, but you can use any brand, including types with bacon. Both cream cheese and cheddar cheese filled jalapeno poppers work.
Note: You won't need any additional oil to make crispy air fryer jalapeño poppers.
How to Air Fry Frozen Jalapeño Poppers
Step 1 - Preparation: No need to preheat the air fryer or use oil spray. Simply place the frozen jalapeño poppers in the air fryer basket and spread them out evenly in a single layer. If you're cooking a large amount of frozen poppers, you will need to make them in batches. Avoid overcrowding the air fryer!
Step 2 - Air Frying: Set the air fryer to 375°F for 10-12 minutes. Gently turn them over halfway through air frying. Continue to air fry after turning until you see the cheese just starting to ooze out.
Step 3 - Cool Down: Be patient and let them cool for a little while before diving in! The filling of air fryer jalapeno poppers can be super hot, and we want you to enjoy them safely.
Toaster Oven Style Air Fryer Instructions
Note: The following instructions are for toaster oven style air fryer models with a tray, rather than a basket, such as the Breville Smart Oven Air. These models require preheating.
- Preheat the air fryer toaster oven to 375°F.
- Line the frozen jalapeño poppers on the air fryer tray, spreading them out evenly in a single layer. Don't overcrowd the tray, or they won't cook properly!
- Air Fry for 12-15 minutes, turning the jalapeno poppers over halfway through the cook time so they cook evenly. Use tongs to turn the poppers over, as they will be hot. After turning, continue cooking until you see the cheese just starting to ooze out.
- Once done, use tongs to remove the jalapeno poppers from the air fryer and let them cool off. Wait for a few minutes before eating. The filling will be very hot, and we want you to enjoy them safely!
Recipe Tips
- Keep an eye on the poppers as they cook to prevent overcooking and cheese spillage!
- Be careful not to overcrowd the air fryer basket or tray. This can lead to uneven cooking, and nothing is worse than biting into a cold spot in your hot food!
- Turn your air fryer frozen jalapeno poppers over halfway through the cook time. This helps them cook evenly on all sides. If you don't have tongs to turn them with, shake the basket to flip them around instead.
- Air fryer models vary, so cook time may vary depending on your specific air fryer!
Serving Suggestions
- Dip them in ranch dressing or sour cream for a cool contrast to the spicy kick.
- Pair them with homemade salsa for a burst of freshness.
- Serve them as appetizers at your next party for a crowd-pleasing snack. They're great for game day!
Storage Instructions
If you have leftover jalapeno poppers, store them in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days.
Reheating Instructions
Reheat leftovers in the air fryer for 3-5 minutes at 375°F to maintain the crispy texture. Reheating them in the microwave is faster, but it may make them soggy.
FAQ
Absolutely! You can make your own jalapeño poppers from scratch and then air fry them using the same instructions. They may require a little less cooking time, so just be sure to keep an eye on them.
There are plenty of delicious dipping options! Some popular choices include ranch dressing, sour cream, guacamole, or a zesty salsa. Feel free to get creative and experiment to find your favorite dipping sauce.
To make extra crispy poppers, you can lightly spray them with oil before air frying. We use a sprayer with olive oil or avocado oil. Avoid using a cooking spray with additives as it might damage the non-stick coating inside your air fryer. Additionally, ensure you spread them out in a single layer in the air fryer basket to allow for maximum air circulation and crispiness.
