How to Air Fry Frozen Crinkle Cut Fries

Step 1 - Preheat your air fryer to 400°F. While the air fryer preheats, take your bag of frozen french fries out of the freezer and add them to a large bowl. Drizzle with light olive oil, then toss until all fries are coated. Season fries with a sprinkle of salt, plus any other seasonings you prefer (such as black pepper, paprika, garlic powder, or even cayenne pepper or our chili seasoning), then toss again to coat completely.

Step 2 - Place the frozen crinkle-cut fries in your air fryer basket once preheated, and arrange them in a single layer as much as possible. Some overlap is fine, but don't overcrowd the air fryer basket, or they won't crisp up properly. In our recipe testing, we found an average 16 ounce bag of frozen crinkle-cut fries fits perfectly in our 7 ounce air fryer basket.

Step 3 - Air fry for 12-15 minutes at 400°F. After 12-15 minutes, your crinkle-cut fries should be perfectly cooked and crispy. Carefully remove them from the air fryer basket, serve, and enjoy!
Recipe Tips
See our section on Troubleshooting below if you have a specific problem, such as the fries not crisping up or burning.
- Make sure not to overcrowd the air fryer basket. This leads to uneven cooking and the fries won't crisp up.
- Make sure to check the nutritional information on your package of fries if you need exact info. The listed nutrition in the recipe card is specific to the brand we used!
Troubleshooting
- Fries not crisping up? Make sure your air fryer basket isn't overcrowded. Cook in batches if necessary. Use an oil sprayer filled with your preferred oil to spray the fries rather than tossing them in oil.
- Burned the fries? Lower the temperature and the cooking time. Shake the basket more often during the cook time, and ensure you're not using too much oil.
- Unevenly cooked fries? Shake the basket frequently and make sure you're not overcrowding the basket. If you're using homemade fries you froze yourself, they need to be cut to a uniform size to cook evenly!

- Pour the seasoned frozen crinkle cut fries into the preheated air fryer basket in a single layer. Make sure not to overcrowd the air fryer basket or the fries won't cook properly.
- Air fry at 400°F for 12-15 minutes, being sure to shake the basket halfway through air frying time.

Notes
-
- Fries not crispy enough? Avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket. Increase the temperature or cooking time slightly if necessary. Use cooking spray instead of oil, but remember: use an oil sprayer filled with your preferred oil. Do not use a pressurized cooking spray with additives as it can damage the nonstick surface of your air fryer.
-
- Burned your fries? Lower the temperature and cooking time, shake the basket more often, and don't use too much oil. See our guide to air frying oils if your oil doesn't seem to be working well for you.
-
- Fries not cooking evenly? Shake the basket frequently and avoid overcrowding. If you're using homemade french fries you froze yourself, make sure they've been cut to equal sizes.
- Nutritional value is based off of generic frozen crinkle cut fries. Please check the packaging of your frozen fries for accurate nutrition.
