Air Fryer Frozen Curly Fries
Hey french fry lovers, have you seen our comprehensive guide to Frozen Fries in the Air Fryer? If you have, then you already know: frozen curly fries are amazing air fried! Our favorite are Arby's frozen curly fries. They are an easy side dish that taste great and crisp up well, making them a perfect choice as a side dish for your favorite dinners.
Why Air Fry Frozen Curly Fries?
- They're crispy: Sometimes, when you make frozen fries in the oven, they might come out a little bit limp and sad. That is not the case with air fryer curly fries. These fries develop a nice crunch, while retaining that perfect fluffy-tender potato texture we all love on the inside for perfectly delicious curly fries!
- It's quick: In the air fryer, these fries go from freezer to plate in under 15 minutes. For comparison, a half bag of these fries in the oven takes 20 minutes to bake - and that's not counting the preheating time! We love easy air fryer recipes like this, don't you?!
- It's easy: All you have to do is pour the fries in the air fryer and cook, giving it a good shake just once halfway through the cook time. It doesn't get any easier than that!

Ingredients You'll Need
- Frozen Arby's Curly Fries: These brand of curly fries are available in the frozen foods section of local grocery stores and big box stores like Walmart. Look for Arby’s Curly Fries in the freezer section. You can use other varieties of curly fries, too, such as Ore-Ida Zesty Curly Fries.
- Oil Spray (optional): You can spray these fries lightly with oil for crispier french fries, but it's not necessary. IMPORTANT NOTE: Do not spray into the air fryer with pressurized cooking spray as it could damage the non-stick coating in your air fryer. Use a natural oil, such as vegetable oil, light olive oil or avocado oil, in a sprayer bottle. See our guide to Oils in the Air Fryer for more info on what oils to use.
How to Air Fry Frozen Curly Fries
Quick note: Does your air fryer have a tray, not a basket? If so, scroll down to our instructions for toaster oven style air fryers (← or follow this link). They're a little bit different!
Step 1 - Preheat your air fryer to 400°F. Pour a half bag of your frozen fries into the air fryer in a single layer. Don't overcrowd the air fryer basket; cook in batches if necessary.
Step 2 (Optional) - Spray lightly with oil if you want crispier french fries. Remember to use a natural oil, such as light olive oil or avocado oil, in a sprayer bottle, and not a pressurized cooking spray.
Step 3 - Air fry at 400°F for 10-12 minutes, being sure to shake the basket to toss them around halfway through the cook time. If your air fryer doesn't have a reminder to shake the basket, we recommend setting a timer. This helps your potatoes crisp up to perfection!
Step 4 - When lightly browned and crispy, remove the Arby's fries from the air fryer to a serving plate. Enjoy with your favorite dipping sauces!
Dipping Sauces for Curly Fries
- Ketchup: You can't go wrong with classic ketchup for curly fries.
- Cheese Sauce: A thick cheese sauce makes an unconventional but delicious dip for fries.
- BBQ Sauce: This might sound strange if you've never tried it, but seriously - it's good!
- Honey Mustard: Tangy honey mustard is a great choice if you're pairing these fries with another dippable food, like mini corn dogs or chicken strips. Kids especially love this combo!
- Ranch Dressing: Okay - let's be honest. We'll dip anything in ranch dressing. It's tasty!
- Fry Sauce: To make a simple fry sauce, mix mayo with ketchup. Use more mayo than ketchup. If you want to get adventurous, you can add a tiny splash of pickle juice.
- Sriracha Mayo: This one is Marion's favorite. Mix a little bit of sriracha hot sauce with mayonnaise until fully blended. This spicy mayo dip is great for fries!
Toaster Oven Style Air Fryer Instructions
The following instructions are for toaster-oven style air fryers with a tray, such as the Breville Smart Oven Air. Note that these models take longer to cook than air fryers with a basket.
- Preheat air fryer to 400°F.
- Spread the frozen Arby's curly fries onto the air fryer tray in a single layer, being sure not to overcrowd the tray. Spray lightly with oil if you want crispier french fries, but make sure not to use a cooking spray.
- Air fry at 400°F for 12-14 minutes, or until they are crisp to your liking.
- When lightly browned and crispy, remove the fries from the air fryer oven to a serving plate and enjoy!
Recipe Tips
- IMPORTANT NOTE: Do not spray into the air fryer with pressurized cooking spray, as it could damage the non-stick coating in your air fryer.
- Cook from frozen – Do not thaw first.
- Don’t crowd the air fryer basket. ½ bag should fit nicely for even cooking. If you are cooking a full bag, consider cooking in ½ bag batches for crispy curly fries. Overcrowding could result in soggy curly fries!
- Cook time may vary depending on your specific air fryer. Remember, air fryer brands vary, so you may have to adjust the cook time to your specific air fryer.
- Recipe time and temperature is based on a preheated air fryer. If cooking multiple batches, keep in mind subsequent batches may cook more quickly.
Storage Instructions
- Store leftover curly fries in the refrigerator in an air-tight container for up to 3-4 days. To reheat, pop them back in the air fryer at 400°F for 3-5 minutes or until heated through and crisped up again.
