- Frozen sweet potato fries: We used Ore Ida Frozen Sweet Potato French Fries, but you can use any brand you like, including homemade fries you've frozen yourself or Alexia sweet potato fries, for example.
- Oil spray: Use an avocado oil spray or olive oil spray rather than a non-stick cooking spray with additives. A neutral vegetable oil works best. Learn more: Our Favorite Oils to use for Air Frying.
- Salt and pepper: Simple salt and black pepper is the only seasoning you need for sweet potato fries. We recommend kosher salt or sea salt for the best flavor. Want to spice things up a little more? Tips
- Cook from frozen - do not thaw first.
- Cook time may vary based on your air fryer model and the size of your burritos.
- Recipe time and temperature is based on a preheated air fryer oven. If cooking sweet potato fries in multiple batches, be sure to check on the remaining batches early, as they may cook more quickly.
- Use an air fryer parchment paper liner for easy clean-up. Keep in mind that foods tend to be less crispy when using parchment paper.
- Air fryer fries are always better when you don't overcrowd the air fryer. If you prefer especially crispy fries, you may want to cook them in batches by only adding them to the basket in a single layer at a time.
Serving Suggestions
Air fryer sweet potato fries pair with a variety of meals, from burgers, to steaks, roast chicken, turkey, pork, and even fish. Serve alongside your favorite dipping sauces for sweet potato fries; honey mustard, garlic aioli, sriracha mayo, and tartar sauce (especially with seafood!) are excellent choices for pairing with the flavor of sweet potato.
These fries also make a great snack all by themselves with ketchup any time of day.
Leftover Sweet Potato Fries
Sweet potato fries are best right out of the air fryer, however, if you have leftovers allow them to cool completely, then transfer them to an airtight container or resealable plastic bag. Place them in the refrigerator and consume within 2-3 days for best quality. Reheat in the air fryer for crispy results.
FAQ
If your sweet potato fries aren't crisping up to your liking in the air fryer, you most likely did not preheat, over-crowded the basket, or did not shake the basket halfway through the cook time. Make sure to follow all of our steps so your fries come out with the crispy texture you're looking for. But, keep in mind: they won't ever be as crispy as fresh fries! (Even if they're no less delicious.)
