Can you really make air fryer eggs?
If you haven't tried air frying hard boiled eggs, you may be doubtful. We were, too! However, much like baking eggs in a conventional oven, air frying eggs is not only doable, it's honestly easier than boiling them! It's a straightforward and efficient alternative.
Simply place your eggs in the air fryer, nothing fancy involved. That's all there is to it. There's no need for extra prep work, boiling water, or meticulous timing. Just set the temperature and timer, and you can step away. Return to perfectly cooked eggs every time!
Our method suits all preferences, whether you enjoy hard-boiled, soft-boiled, or jammy eggs, and is so much easier than the traditional method of boiling eggs on the stove top. Ingredients
- Eggs: If you use farm-fresh eggs, keep in mind they may be harder to peel. However, farm-fresh eggs are much richer in flavor than store-bought!
- Water: Plain water from the tap is fine.
- Ice: This will be used for the ice bath, which stops the cooking process so you do not overcook your boiled eggs. It also makes the eggs easier to peel, so don't skip this step.

Hard Boiled Eggs in the Air Fryer
Hard boiled eggs have a firm, set egg yolk. They require the longest cook time of air fryer boiled eggs. For jammy eggs and soft boiled eggs, keep scrolling!
Step 1 - Place large eggs gently into the air fryer basket. Don't air fry too many at a time - they should be in a single layer, not touching. You don't need anything extra for this step, and preheating is not required. Set the air fryer to 250°F, and cook for 16 minutes.
Step 2 - Carefully remove the hot eggs from the air fryer using tongs, and immediately transfer eggs into an ice water bath for 5 minutes. This stops the cooking process so your eggs don't overcook. It also makes the eggs easier to peel, so don't skip this step.
Step 3 - When ready to peel, gently tap the egg on a hard surface to crackle the shell. Then slowly roll the egg back and forth to loosen the shell.
Step 4 - Start by peeling the egg from the big end and remove peel completely. Wash in water to get any tiny pieces of shell off as needed. Watch our video to see how easy it is to peel air fryer boiled eggs.

What if my air fryer doesn't go below 300°F?
In our extensive testing of boiled eggs in the air fryer, we have found 250 degrees F. to be the optimum air frying temperature to make perfect boiled eggs that peel easily and are not rubbery.
Most air fryers these days will go down to 250 degrees F. However, sometimes you might have to choose a function other than 'air fry' in order to reach the lower temperature like with our Ninja Foodi DualZone 2-Basket air fryer. Choosing the ‘bake function’ allows us to air fry at the lower temperature of 250 degrees F. which makes perfect air fryer hard boiled eggs.
We don't recommend making boiled eggs in the air fryer at a higher temperature as our testing resulted in eggs that tended to be rubbery and hard to peel, however, if your air fryer model does not go lower than 300°F, you can take 1-2 minutes off of the cook time and try it for yourself. You may need to experiment a bit to find the perfect timing, as all air fryer models are different.
Jammy Eggs in the Air Fryer
Jammy eggs are less firm than hard boiled eggs, giving them a slightly runny, "jammy" yolk half-way between hard-boiled and soft-boiled. For soft boiled eggs, keep scrolling!
- Place large eggs carefully into the air fryer basket.
- Air fry at 250°F for 12 minutes.
- Using tongs, carefully remove the hot eggs from the air fryer and immediately place them into an ice water bath for 5 minutes. This stops the cooking process.
- Gently roll each egg on the countertop or another hard surface. Then roll the egg gently between your palms to further loosen the shell, and carefully peel the egg. Rinse under cold water as needed to remove any small pieces of shell. Enjoy right away or store for later use!
Note: If the eggs are difficult to peel due to being softer, you can also use a knife to crack them in the middle, break the egg in half, and then scoop out the contents with a spoon by working the spoon under the shell.

Recipe Tips
- Using an ice bath is an important part of this recipe. Make sure to use one to stop the cooking process.
- Always handle hot eggs with tongs. We're serious - they are HOT! You don't want to touch them directly.
- Don't crowd the air fryer basket. The eggs should have enough room between them to cook properly.
- Green yolks? Shorten the cook time. They're overcooked if they have a green ring and are too crumbly.
