Firm-but-flaky Mahi-Mahi is a beloved choice of fish for dinner, but preparing fish can prove a challenge even for experienced home cooks. Our Mahi-Mahi air fryer recipe cuts out the hassle and saves on time, so you can enjoy a fish dinner your family will love with minimal effort!
This air fryer Mahi-Mahi recipe is a perfect choice for busy weeknight dinners when you're short on time, but still want to serve an impressive meal. The air fryer cooks the fish perfectly by giving it a crispy exterior while keeping the inside tender and flaky. And, by air frying you avoid using excess oil, making dinner that much more wholesome!
What does Mahi-Mahi taste like?
Mahi-Mahi is a firm, flaky, white fish with a mild taste. This is a fish with a low oil content, which means it benefits from marinating or seasoning to enhance the flavor of the meat. It's important not to overcook Mahi-Mahi, as it will become dry and lose some of its delicate flavor when cooked for too long.
When cooked properly, Mahi-Mahi is moist, tender, and delicious served over rice, in fish tacos with mango salsa, or season mahi mahi fillets and serve with lemon wedges and Air Fryer Asparagus for a gluten-free, low-carb, keto option (source). With the air fryer, cooking Mahi-Mahi to the perfect temperature is easy. We're certain this will become one of your favorite seafood recipes!
Ingredients
- Mahi-Mahi Fillets: You can use fresh or frozen fish. We're using Wild Caught Mahi-Mahi fillets that are frozen and vacuum sealed. If you cook frozen Mahi-Mahi using this recipe, be sure to thaw it first.
- Oil Spray: Olive oil spray or avocado oil spray provides a light coating for a crispy texture. Important note: Use an oil sprayer filled with your preferred oil. Do not use pressurized cooking sprays with additives, as it could damage the air fryer surface. Learn more: Air Frying Oils
- Chili Seasoning: This is our favorite seasoning for Mahi-Mahi! It adds a delightful spicy kick. You can season Mahi-Mahi fillets using your favorite seasoning for fish, but we recommend giving our chili seasoning a try!
